Valley MLS; Basement homes in Huntsville are quite rare

The peak season is spring to late summer with a normal slow down December – January.


Basement homes are rare here. Our frost line is about 5″ deep so builders don’t have to go deep for the foundation. We sometimes see basements on sloped lots. Sloped lots have their own set of concerns. We have to check for foundation problems, water problems and homes on sloped lots are prone to elevated radon levels. Radon is a relatively inexpensive fix but water and foundation problems can be very expensive to repair.


The link below is to Valley MLS listings that may be candidates. I increased the price a little to account for negotiation in this buyer’s market and lowered the bottom of the price range a little. There may be an ideal property that is a short sale or bank owned home that is aggressively priced. We included only newer homes and proposed construction. We also included only brick homes. Please let me know if I am on the right track with this search or not. If you consider building, the timing is about right to start looking.
