homes for sale in huntsville al

homes for sale in huntsville al    17731 WALES DRIVE is just inside Limestone County so will be served by Creekside Elementary and East Limestone High School. Even if the quality of schools isn't important to you personally, we need to consider the quality of schools in thinking forward to when you will eventually re-sell the house. One of the best resources for reviewing the quality of schools is http://www.schooldigger.com/go/AL/search.aspx.
We set up and saved an interactive map for you at the following link. You can make notes and share the map with friends and family. The link below is as best we can tell the location of the house. Note the yellow house icon. The house is in the path of the tornado two years ago. It is also close to the Limestone Prison. Note that there are still houses that haven't been rebuilt. and some mobile homes in the area.
Google hasn't driven down this road yet so there is no Google street view. ( More on Google street view later.)
This area has been hit by three major tornados, the one two years ago, one ten years ago and one in 1974. Some people are afraid of rebuilding in the area. This makes it more of a buyers market but could make it harder to sell for you in the future.
238 FARMINGTON DRIVE is also in Harvest but in Madison County. The house is listed as a short sale where seller is asking their lender to let them sell the house for less than what is owed on it. Depending on the lender short sales can be trying. Sometimes the lender takes weeks or months to respond to offers, it just depends on the lender. Some are easy to work with and others are very difficult. The good news is that I see that a local attorney who works as a liaison between seller and lender is involved so the transaction may be a little easier.
We do have some concerns about the location of the house. It is on a very busy road. Even this far north on on Old Railroad Bed road there is a lot of fast moving traffic . We aren't a big fan of the neighborhood either. The lots are very very small, there have been a lot of foreclosures and property values continue to fall. The last time I was in the neighborhood some of the houses were starting to look a little ratty. There were overgrown lawns and some junk cars.
The following link it to the property location. While Google didn't drive down the street in front of the house they did drive through part of the neighborhood while it it was still under construction. Drag the man icon on top of the zoom scale at the top left of the map to any blue highlighted street for the street view.
Please let me know if you would like more information about this house and sales data fro the neighborhood.
Another good tool with the map is that you can get an estimate of your commute time. At the top left of the page enter the property address and then your work address. Google will estimate the commute time pretty accurately.  For an example Google estimates a 19 min. commute from Farmington Drive to gate nine on Redstone Arsenal.
198 MYLO CIRCLE is also a short sale but doesn't have the attorney helping.  So far this home seems to have the best location. Even though this house is a short sale, the neighborhood is more stable. I think this one might be worth more research and then a viewing. Google did drive this street so you can drag the man icon to the street then use the controls to do a neighborhood fly through.
Please let me know your thoughts on this home an if you want us to do more detailed research.
207 KNOX CREEK TRAIL is in a stable neighborhood that seems to hold values well. It is one of the older homes in the oldest part of the neighborhood. The home for sale might be worth more research but there are a couple of things to consider. The house is on the main entry to the neighborhood and while there are speed bumps the traffic can be a little fast.
One of the newer sections of the neighborhood has had flooding problems from Knox Creek but this section seems OK. Before making an offer on any house we will check the flood maps and you lender will do the same.
The schools are also a concern. Realtors and homeowner's on the west side of Huntsville had high hopes for the new Providence school boosting property values. The school's district lines were formed where a disproportionate number of subsidized housing children attend the school, As a result the school is struggling and it's rankings are consistently low. Be sure to take note of the percentage of children that qualify for free or reduced price lunches. on the data pages below. http://www.schooldigger.com/go/AL/schools/0180002172/school.aspx , http://www.schooldigger.com/go/AL/schools/0180001652/school.aspx .
The bridge over Knox Creek on Balch Road just south of the neighborhood has been closed for rebuilding for about a year. If it's not already finished, it should be soon.. Please see the wrench icon on the map.
205 SADDLE ROCK COURT  is another short sale without benefit of the attorney liaison. This is a stable neighborhood and the house is in a cul-de-sac. There is a Google street view. I think this house will be another candidate worth researching further.
103 CEDAR BLUFF COURT looks like another great candidate. It's in a stable, smaller neighborhood with very little traffic. There is however a TVA power transmission line behind the house. There is a Google street view. It looks like there is some sort of heavy equipment working under the power lines. There won't be any construction here because of the power lines but it bears checking into.
176 MYLO CIRCLE is an older frame home that will need more maintenance than the newer brick homes we have reviewed. At 2,116 square feet it is pretty big and looks like it just had a full remodel. There is a grass air strip to the west but it looks like it is private and there will be just a few single engine planes in and out.
140 RASPBERRY WAY is a bank owned home in another stable neighborhood where we have done a lot of business. The interior photos are very attractive. It looks like the back yard is cross fenced, possibly to keep a dog from messing up the yard near the house.
116 BEN MARK DRIVE  has a lot of space, is pretty new and in a small cul-de-sac neighborhood. In the past when we have shown homes in the neighborhood they didn't really care for it. In a couple cases there were some junk cars in a driveway or back yard. I think it's worth researching further if you like the house and neighborhood.
The link below is to an overview of all nine houses
